API Terms of Service

Archived version, effective as of 2026-08-29.

This is an earlier version of these Terms of Service. See the current version.

1. Acceptance and Scope

Subscribing to the API, obtaining an API key, or making any call to the API constitutes unqualified acceptance of these Terms of Service. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you must not use the API.

The API is distributed through the RapidAPI marketplace. RapidAPI's own terms govern the transactional relationship between you and RapidAPI: billing, payment methods, technical quotas, and account management. These Terms of Service govern the licence granted over the Data and your rights to use it. Where the two sets of terms conflict on those subjects, these Terms of Service prevail.

Hyprace may publish successive versions of these Terms of Service. The version applicable to a given Subscription is the one in effect on the date the Subscription was taken out, subject to the notice period set out in the Availability and Changes section.

2. Definitions

Data. The content made available through the API — race results, driver and team statistics, standings, schedules, and related Formula 1 information — understood as Hyprace's compilation of that content, as described in the Intellectual Property section, and not the underlying sporting facts as such.

Derived Output. Any output produced from the Data, in any form, including aggregated statistics, precomputed comparisons, indexes, reconstructed rankings, training datasets, and model outputs.

Subscription. A paid plan for the API, taken out through the RapidAPI marketplace, that is active and in good standing.

Free Tier. Any plan for the API made available at no cost, as described in the Commercial Terms section.

Licensee. The individual or entity that holds a Subscription or uses the Free Tier, and on whose behalf API keys are issued.

3. Use of the API

The Hyprace API provides access to Formula 1-related data such as race results, driver statistics, teams, standings, and schedules. The API is intended for use by developers building applications, dashboards, or tools that consume racing data.

4. API Key and Rate Limits

To use the API, you may be required to obtain an API key. You are responsible for keeping your API key secure and not sharing it publicly. We reserve the right to impose rate limits or revoke access if misuse is detected.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the API for any unlawful or abusive purposes, including but not limited to scraping, reselling Data, or exceeding fair usage. You must not attempt to disrupt or interfere with the API or servers.

6. Commercial Terms

The Free Tier is provided for evaluation, testing, and development purposes only. It does not grant any right to display Data or Derived Output publicly, to deploy it in a production environment, or to otherwise exploit it commercially. The cessation and deletion obligations set out in this section apply to the Free Tier in the same way as they do to a paid Subscription.

6.1 Licence Granted

An active, paid Subscription grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to display the Data for commercial purposes, and to create and display Derived Output such as comparisons and statistics.

The licence covers storage and caching. You may copy the Data into your own systems, including databases, caches, search indexes, and backups, and you may retain those copies for as long as the Subscription remains active. We impose no expiry, no maximum retention period, and no minimum refresh frequency on stored or cached records: how long you keep a response before requesting it again is your decision. Stored copies must be used solely to serve your own product and its end users.

6.2 Duration Restriction

Neither the Data nor any Derived Output survives the end of a Subscription or the Free Tier. Two deadlines apply.

For a Subscription, the triggering event is its expiry or termination. For the Free Tier, the triggering event is the first of the following to occur: Hyprace revoking or deactivating the API key, for any reason; you cancelling the free plan on the marketplace; or 90 consecutive days without any call to the API, after which Hyprace may notify the end of access by email. The effective date of that triggering event is the starting point for both deadlines below.

Immediate cessation of use. On the triggering event described above, you must immediately stop all use, display, and exploitation of the Data and of any Derived Output, in any form — including aggregated statistics, precomputed comparisons, indexes, reconstructed rankings, training datasets, and model outputs. No right of use survives that triggering event.

Material deletion, within 30 days. You have 30 days from the effective date of that triggering event to delete all Data and Derived Output from your systems, including databases, caches, search indexes, and backups, a period that accounts for automated retention cycles. This period is granted solely to allow technical purging and does not authorise any continued exploitation. Hyprace may request written confirmation of deletion at the end of this period.

Two carve-outs keep this restriction workable:

  • already-published editorial content that incidentally mentions a fact drawn from the Data is not covered; and
  • your own internal activity metrics (volume, cost, usage) are not covered, provided they do not expose the underlying Data.

6.3 Redistribution Restriction

The Data may not be redistributed, exported in bulk, or re-exposed through an API, feed, or any other interface to third parties, nor sold, resold, sublicensed, or otherwise commercialised as data, whether in its original form or as a substantially equivalent derivative. The licence covers display within your own product only. This restriction survives the end of a Subscription or the Free Tier in the same way as the duration restriction above.

These restrictions are defined by origin, not by content: they apply to the Data obtained through the API and to any Derived Output, however produced. They do not prevent you from independently collecting the same facts from other sources. Hyprace claims no rights over raw sporting facts.

7. Intellectual Property

Raw facts. Sporting facts, taken in isolation — race results, lap times, grid positions, and similar data points — are not subject to any form of appropriation. Hyprace claims no rights over these facts as such.

Hyprace's compilation. Hyprace holds rights in its compilation of Formula 1 data, arising from its own editorial process: collection, manual entry, cross-checking against published results, and structuring. This investment gives rise to a sui generis database producer's right under Directive 96/9/EC, as well as rights in the structure, schema, and identifiers specific to the API. It is this compilation, and this compilation alone, that is licensed under Section 6.

Third-party assets. The licence does not extend, under any circumstances, to team logos and trademarks, driver photographs, the "F1", "Formula 1", "FIA", "Grand Prix" marks and similar designations, or any other protected third-party asset. Obtaining and complying with the rights to such elements is the Licensee's sole responsibility, including where such elements are accessible through the API.

Hyprace is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Formula 1, the FIA, Formula One Management, or any team. The names of these entities are used for descriptive purposes only.

8. Availability and Changes

We do not guarantee uninterrupted access to the API.

We may modify these Terms of Service. Where a modification substantially affects the rights of Licensees with an active Subscription, we will give at least 30 days' notice by email to the address associated with the Subscription before the modification takes effect.

We may discontinue the API permanently, or remove a major feature, on at least 60 days' notice by email to Licensees with an active Subscription.

Outside of these two cases, we may interrupt the API without notice only for emergency maintenance, a security incident, or where required by law.

9. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability

The API is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any damages or losses resulting from the use of the API or reliance on its Data.

10. Termination

Except in the case of a serious breach described below, we will give you written notice by email of any breach of these Terms of Service and a 15-day period to remedy it before suspending or terminating your access to the API.

We may suspend or terminate your access to the API immediately, without prior notice or a cure period, in the event of a serious breach: unlawful use of the API, redistribution of the Data in breach of the Commercial Terms section, any act that compromises the security or integrity of the API or the service, or non-payment.

The effective date of termination referred to in this section is the effective date used to calculate the deadlines set out in the Commercial Terms section.
